To Walk with Strangers
To Walk with Strangers
Description
Powerful, disturbing, erotic and visceral, Vincent Andrews pulls us into the mind of the sexual predator and takes the reader on a wild dark ride through the gay Leather scene. This book is not for the faint of heart, but for the adventurous adult reader. It will excite and appall, often at the same time. This book is destined to be a work that will swirl in controversy, and will anger some because of its depiction of the Leather scene as something dark, raw, sexual and seedy. Yet, it is precisely that darkness that makes the tale so powerfully erotic and makes the reader question their own values and attitudes. As is the case with most trangressive fiction, Andrews forces you to see life outside the comfort zone, and does it does this with style and frankness.

History of To Walk with Strangers
The book was inspired by my friends
always asking me to tell them some seedy stories of my own activities of public
cruising. Many have written books on cruising and public sex over the years;
some even focused on bathroom cruising for sex. I didn't want to write just
another "how-to book," I wanted to make it more thrilling to
demonstrate the fear that turns to eroticism in the public sex world.
I decided to make it a first-person narrative so that the
reader could become me and see, smell, and taste all the things I did when I
was out cruising. I also decided never to provide names, like all those in
public sex, but I did give one name. Carl Panzram. He was a famous Kansas gay
serial killer in the early 1900s; he is buried at Ft Leavenworth Prison after
being hung for his crimes. He was a hazardous man, one that enjoyed cruising
for sex and his victims. So, I decided to merge his persona into the storyline
to give the book a thriller feeling and, of course, kept the "tricks of
the trade" in the book for those that find public sex exciting.
The best thing about this is that there is a collector’s
hardcover edition explicitly made for IML XXX5, (35), and I was honored to have
been given permission by Chuck Renslow and IML to use "winged man,"
the IML official logo for that year in my book. The IML brand is very strongly
protected. Being the first writer to have that brand in my work was indeed one
of the most exciting things as a Leatherman and author to have! There were 250
of them published, with a portion of the proceeds going to the LA&M.
You can find this in an E-book form, and some copies of the
limited edition can still be found out there. We do even have a small stock
supply for collectors. The paperback is also available to the public.
